Fourth-generation OLED panel obtains industry’s first Perfect Reproduction Verification.

LG Display announces that its fourth-generation OLED panels have been verified by UL Solutions, a global leader in applied safety science, for Perfect Reproduction technology under lighting conditions of up to 500 lux, which is the brightness of a living room in broad daylight.
This verification is for displays that most perfectly reproduce original content, including color and brightness, even in bright environments. It recognizes that LG Display’s fourth-generation OLED panels accurately reproduce over 95% of original images, based on 4K video (approximately 8.3 million pixels).
To put it another way, these panels perfectly reproduce content at a level of visual quality typically found only in darkened movie theaters, even when they are placed in the brightest living room.
By earning Perfect Reproduction verification, in addition to UL Solutions’ Perfect Black and Perfect Color verifications following its 500 lux test late last year, LG Display’s fourth-generation OLED panels have been proven to most perfectly reproduce original content in everyday environments.
LG Display has become the first in the industry to achieve all three verifications under lighting conditions of 500 lux, delivering the differentiated customer value of OLED panels that provide consistent and accurate picture quality anytime, anywhere.
Beyond simply evaluating color reproduction or brightness, reliable picture quality assessments demonstrate the outstanding picture quality of fourth-generation OLED more objectively, under conditions resembling real-world usage.
OLED panels use a self-emissive structure where each pixel emits light. This allows for precise control of brightness and color at the pixel level, enabling the reproduction of stable, high-quality images even when the brightness of the surrounding environment changes.
LG Display’s fourth-generation OLED panels, which incorporate the company’s most advanced technology, feature an ultra-low reflection design that blocks glare or internal and external light reflections so that the screen can display exactly what the creator intended.
The company’s latest OLED panels deliver the highest quality images in both High Dynamic Range (HDR), delivering movie-level picture quality, and Standard Dynamic Range (SDR), which offers standard TV series-level picture quality.
Unlike the excellent color and contrast ratio of HDR, SDR has a relatively narrow brightness and color range. Therefore, SDR video content can suffer from a more prominent haze effect when viewed on an LCD panel, making images look foggy.
On the other hand, OLED panels are able to express perfect black, providing vivid picture quality by maximizing the contrast ratio of HDR and SDR video content.
“Moving forward, we will continue to introduce premium displays that deliver the ultimate viewing experience across diverse usage environments, based on our proprietary OLED technology,” said Yoon Soo-young, CTO of LG Display.
