LG Display has become the display panel industry’s first company to receive certification from TÜV Rheinland, a leading global independent testing, inspection and certification body, for its Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) calculation method.

This certification is awarded to companies that have established systems capable of quantitatively calculating greenhouse gas emissions across their entire product life cycle in accordance with international standards.

To address rising demand for low-carbon products and increasing certification requests, LG Display proactively developed a product carbon footprint evaluation system based on the ISO 14067 international standard. It not only includes essential criteria such as data collection, calculation, and validation methods but also applies in-house evaluation methodology optimized for displays.

In addition, the company independently developed an IT system for carbon footprint assessments. As it integrates data from existing product development processes, this system allows users to easily calculate a carbon footprint by simply entering basic product information, without the need for further data.

“This certification is a meaningful achievement that demonstrates the global credibility of our eco-friendly product management system,” said Jeong-ki Park, SVP and head of the Medium Display Development Group at LG Display. “We will continue to focus on developing various technologies to drive transparent ESG management based on quantitative data.”
