KBA North America announced that Tempt In-Store Productions, a Quad/Graphics company, will be installing a new KBA Rapida 205, the world’s largest sheetfed press, at its New Berlin, WI facility, in the summer of 2014. The new super-large-format press is capable of printing POP, signage, posters, displays and graphics of all kinds up to 81 inches by 59 inches (1.51 x 2.05 meters) in size. Equipped with a wide range of automated technologies such as automatic plate changing and UV drying capabilities that allow for printing on almost any substrate, the press delivers extremely high print quality with low makeready times. “At Tempt, we are committed to using the highest level of technology in order to minimize cost and turnaround time for our customers,” said Mike Draver, president of Tempt. “We are serious about providing the broadest range of in-store marketing solutions that help retailers and marketers achieve their business goals.” The new KBA Rapida 205 81-inc sheetfed press, awarded the prestigious PIA InterTech award, features a maximum sheet size of 59.5” x 81”, running at a speed of 9,000 sheets per hour (sph). Its range of features include a fully-automatic plate changer with lifting facility for loading and unloading of the plate holders on the tower guards, automatic blanket and impression cylinder washing systems, an in-line anilox coating system and IR, UV, or hybrid drying options. It also includes KBA’s Densitronic quality control system. “We commend Quad/Graphics for this important capital equipment investment in this new super large format 81” KBA offset press,” said Steve Korn, director of national and key accounts for KBA North America. “This 81” KBA press will enable Quad’s Tempt division to provide the highest quality super large format offset printing on paper, board, and plastic all with ultimate ease. Accompanied by a high level kit of purpose-chosen KBA technology, this asset will provide Quad with a competitive edge well into the foreseeable future thereby providing a most comprehensive in-store marketing solution for its customers.” The new press complements Tempt’s existing KBA Rapida 64-inch sheetfed press and represents the latest step in Tempt’s mission to build a nationwide in-store marketing platform that delivers the best possible solutions with the latest technology. In 2013, Tempt added a new Inca S50i large-format digital UV flatbed press at its New Berlin, WI facility, and a new Inca Q40i large-format digital UV flatbed device to its Southern California operations in Huntington Beach. The company also serves international customers by utilizing the large-format printing capabilities of Quad/Graphics’ plants in Europe and Latin America.
