Japan Display Inc. announced that it has proceeded with the development of capacitance type glass fingerprint sensors, utilizing LTPS backplane technology and touch panel technology. The glass fingerprint sensors are for the security market – specifically smart door locks. JDI has applied the LTPS backplane technology and touch panel technology, for smartphones, to other areas. Utilizing this LTPS backplane technology and touch panel technology gained through devices for smartphones, JDI was successful in developing driving technology for glass fingerprint sensors and authentication algorithms.
