INX International Ink Co. has developed its LithoPak process inks for carton printers. These inks are specially created to deliver superior color reproduction on multi-grade substrates as well as premium quality carton stocks.

The new inks perform on a full range of formatted presses, with “stay open” properties to save time on press make-readies and help boost productivity.

“Producing high quality graphics at low tacks presents a major challenge for carton printers,” said David Sambo, INX International’s folding carton solutions team leader. “Working closely with customers and our application specialists, the new premium quality LithoPak process inks developed by INX R&D reproduce beautifully on lightweight stock and a variety of substrates, including SUS, SBS, WCCNB and many others. It’s a big step toward helping carton printers meet wide-ranging customer demands for color quality and also beat cost-price pressures in this industry.”

“Ink transfer and run stability were key considerations,” added Sheree Eberly, INX product development specialist. “LithoPak’s truly balanced four-color system is designed to reduce on-press adjustments for variables that affect inks and the litho process.

“Properties such as rub resistance are a high priority on most carton applications,” Ms. Eberly said. “Here, too, LithoPak provides a big advantage.”

Cartons printed with LithoPak inks are foil stampable and laser-safe, and may be coated in-line with aqueous coatings or off-line with UV.

“Along with inks, coatings are important in carton production,” said Tim Carter, INX process applications specialist. “Besides rub resistance, COF (coefficient of friction), chemical and moisture resistance, coatings may be called upon to heighten gloss or other properties, too.”
