Precision Dynamics Corporation (PDC), a global leader in automatic wristband identification, announced the successful installation of its PDC Smart RFID Wristband Kiosk used for self-service locker rentals at Hyland Hills Water World in Denver, CO during its busy 2012 summer season.

Guests at Hyland Hills Water World, the largest community owned and operated outdoor waterpark in the U.S., instantly embraced the self-service kiosk, according to park manager Bob Owens. He said the majority of his guests arrive during the park’s first few operating hours, which can lead to congested lines – a common dilemma at many amusement parks.

“The kiosk significantly shortened the locker rental line without the need for an additional locker attendant, which provided a better guest experience without added labor costs,” said Owens.

To use the kiosk, guests simply followed instructions on the touch-screen monitor to select the desired size of locker and inserted their payment into the machine. The kiosk then programmed and dispensed a waterproof, RFID-enabled Smart Band wristband that allowed guests instant access to their assigned locker by simply presenting their wristband to the RFID reader.

“We’ve been sold on the concept for a while, but we wanted to see first-hand our customers’ reaction to the Smart Kiosk,” Owens said. “Since the pilot was so successful at moving guests into the park quickly, we’re looking into adding more convenient functions to the kiosk for our next season.”

The PDC Smart RFID Wristband Kiosk, when used with PDC Smart Band Wristbands, can be programmed to perform a wide variety of functions, such as self-service ticketing; fast-pass upgrades; locker and tube rentals; cashless POS for food/beverage & retail sales; keyless hotel room entry; social media integration; electronic access control; photo management systems; and customer loyalty programs.

In addition to the new self-service locker rentals, Hyland Hills Water World has used PDC’s Smart RFID technology for other applications for more than six years. PDC’s Smart Rewearable RFID Wristbands are used for patron management and access control of season pass holders, and PDC Smart RFID Cards provide access and tracking of park personnel.
