Fujifilm customer Folder Express will participate in a session titled The Future of Inkjet
January 22, 2013

The printing industry is changing radically. Runs are getting shorter and turn-around times are increasingly tighter, while demand for quality is unwavering. Print jobs in this growing segment of the market cannot be run cost-effectively with conventional offset printing, and the size and quality demands often prohibited digital printing from being a viable option. The advancements in inkjet technology – as well as the introduction of Fujifilm’s J Press 720 half-size inkjet press – have revolutionized this traditional way of thinking and now offer printers new opportunities. FUJIFILM North America Corporation, Graphic Systems Division, will bring the inkjet revolution to attendees during PODi AppForum 2013, the international digital printing conference, taking place Jan. 28-30 at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas. “Printers are doing business differently than they have in the past,” explained Peter Vanderlaan, FUJIFILM North America Corporation, Graphic Systems Division, marketing director, commercial graphics. “They are more in tune with their customers and where their customers are headed and they make their business decisions on those future plans. That future is inkjet.” As a silver sponsor of the annual conference, Fujifilm will have its customer Folder Express participate in a session titled “The Future of Inkjet” on Jan. 30. Folder Express specializes in producing pocket folders for a variety of industries and markets. “We were faced with many of the same challenges that other commercial printers are facing – customers need shorter runs, better quality and faster turnaround – and it became obvious to us that inkjet was the answer,” said Doug Boysen, president of Folder Express. “Fujifilm’s J Press 720 offered us the format size we needed and the quality our customers demanded. Furthermore, it enabled us to compete more effectively for short-run jobs and eliminate much of the waste associated with traditional offset printing.” During the session, Mr. Boysen will share with attendees the details of the decision-making process that led to the installation of the Fujifilm J Press 720 inkjet press and the adoption and assimilation of this new technology. Mr. Boysen and his fellow panelists will also discuss the current state of inkjet technology, especially with regard to image quality, speed, reliability, sheet size, substrates and price per image, helping attendees better understand the advantages and opportunities that inkjet technology offers. “We’re pleased to be able to sponsor and participate in this year’s PODi AppForum. Our industry continues to change rapidly – both in terms of the technologies being used and in how printers are actually doing business – and events like this one offer all of us the latest information on best practices for today as well as incredible insight on what the future may hold,” added Mr. Vanderlaan.
