First Solar Hires Kathy Weiss as Vice President, Government Relations

First Solar, Inc. appointed of Kathy Weiss as vice president, government relations, based in New York, NY. In this new position, Ms. Weiss is responsible for overseeing the development and advocacy of First Solar’s public policy positions and will manage First Solar’s state and federal affairs activities. Ms. Weiss will report to John Gaffney, executive vice president and general counsel.

“Kathy brings a wealth of government affairs experience that will support First Solar’s vision of enabling a world powered by clean, affordable solar electricity,” said John Gaffney executive vice president and general counsel. “I look forward to working with her as we expand our advocacy outreach efforts and strengthen our relationships with policymakers and the communities we serve.”

Most recently, Ms. Weiss served as vice president, government and public affairs for Centex. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Weiss served in government affairs and investor relations’ roles with MeadWestvaco and its predecessor Westvaco.
