E Ink Holdings announced its participation in the 20th Taipei International Book Exhibition, held from Feb. 1-6, 2012. The theme of the 2012 TIBE show centers around “Green Reading,” and E Ink will demonstrate it’s technology in the “Green Reading Zone,” highlighting the ecological-friendly aspects of electronic paper technology, and current and new applications utilizing E Ink’s displays.

E Ink will be showcasing new devices featuring its ePaper, including an ePaper desk, the limited edition Seiko Lupin III solar powered watch, a Yoong Fon Bank credit and debit card, and a number of eReaders from around the world featuring localized content. Visitors will be able to interact with select products on display to experience the features of E Ink’s ePaper firsthand. Additionally, several ancient Chinese texts will be loaded into E Ink enabled devices, bringing to users the unique charm of reading ancient books through contemporary ePaper technologies.

E Ink’s ePaper gives the user a reading experience close to that of traditional printed paper, even in direct sunlight, and is the ideal medium for reading eBooks on a dedicated device. Because E Ink’s ePaper is bistable, requiring power only to update an image, and uses ambient light, alleviating the need for a backlight, the use of an E Ink display in a product significantly decreases battery consumption. Together these features help contribute to a reduction in the number of trees needed for the production of paper books, and in a reduction in the batteries needed for device use.
