Cymbet Corporation announced that it is teaming with several companies who are providing new innovative energy harvesting technologies to demonstrate new solutions in booth K06 at the IDTechEx Energy Harvesting and Storage USA conference to be held at the Santa Clara Convention Center Nov. 20-21, 2013.

“Our technology partners are providing new technologies that will drive cost effective energy harvesting powered solutions,” said Steve Grady Cymbet vice president of marketing. “These innovative photovoltaic cells and ultra low power Bluetooth Low Energy wireless devices, coupled with Cymbet EnerChip rechargeable solid state batteries and power management devices, provide new capabilities for our mutual customers’ energy harvesting-powered products.”

Cymbet has shipped thousands of EnerChip Energy Harvesting Evaluation Kits globally over the last four years to customers in all electronics industry segments. As new technology innovations are introduced, Cymbet is continually working with partners to create new evaluation kit configurations for our customers. The partner demonstrations at IDTechEx EH show include:

• Alta Devices – Alta Devices provides flexible, portable power that can be embedded into any other material. Using a proprietary and highly differentiated technology, Alta Devices manufactures the world’s thinnest and highest efficiency solar cells (28.8%) using gallium arsenide. The Alta solar cells are connected to the Cymbet EVAL-09 Universal Energy Harvesting kit.
• Cardinal Components – Cardinal is introducing the Real Time Plus (RTP) which is a line of highly integrated devices that combines a full-featured real time clock with a two-wire I2C control, an RoHS solid state battery (ENERCHIP enabled), trickle charge-recharging circuit, power management circuit, and a 32 kHz watch crystal, all in an SMD package.
• EM Microelectronic – The EM9301 is the first generation of low voltage and low power, fully integrated single-chip Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) controllers. Cymbet and EM Micro have created a solar powered BLE beacon demo that reports status information to an iPhone app.
• Sol Chip – is developing a cost-effective, compact Solar Battery technology that integrates solar energy sources (Photovoltaic or PV) with low power electronic devices (VLSI). Cymbet has connected the EVAL-09 to the Sol Chip miniature solar solution with to provide a perpetual power supply for wireless sensor nodes.
• Sphelar Power – Unlike conventional flat solar cells, the Sphelar cell takes on a spherical shape, which makes it capable of power generation with greater efficiency. This tiny solar cell, measuring 1–2 mm across, holds huge potential for smart and green society. Cymbet has coupled Sphelar cells with the EVAL-09 to power wireless sensor nodes.
