To better serve its customers in Eastern Europe and across the continent, Crown Food Europe has opened a new easy-open end manufacturing facility in Nagykörös, Hungary, approximately 100 kilometers south of Budapest. The plant is comprised of two lines that manufacture 65mm and 73mm diameter ends.

“European food can volume growth is largely being driven by the Eastern countries, while production in the Western region has remained relatively level,” said Laetitia Durafour, senior marketing and communication manager at Crown Food Europe. “This growth is generated by developing regions in Eastern Europe, where preserved foods are popular and metal cans remain the preferred packaging type in terms of product preservation, presentation and added value.”

The 73mm line has been operational since the middle of 2017 and the 65mm line was installed towards the end of the year. Both lines serve customers across Europe on a daily basis, providing high quality ends for applications including pet food, vegetables and ready meals.
