Following the recent expansion of Coveris’ UK flexible plastics division with the acquisition of Burnley-based Learoyd Packaging, Coveris is now looking to continue to expand its UK food operation with further investment into two new high specification presses at its Gainsborough and Burnley sites.

Both flagship sites are due to benefit from the installation of new Windmöeller & Höelscher Miraflex 8-color presses. The Burnley press has been commissioned to include advanced color management specifications as well as in-line gravure capabilities.

With operational activity set to commence in the latter part of the year at Gainsborough and commissioning due to take place at Burnley in early 2016, the investment creates an exciting opportunity to explore and grow into new markets sectors including dairy, snacks, bakery and confectionery.

“The investment of these two new presses will support our ongoing growth initiatives in the UK by improving and increasing our overall printing capabilities,” said Coveris’ UK president Mark Lapping. “This will allow us to better service the growing demand from our customers for high-quality, printed film-based packaging solutions.”
