Next generation ClearOhm ink improves optical performance in touch sensors
October 7, 2014

Cambrios Technologies announced the launch of its next generation ClearOhm material that has been designed into touch sensors for various applications. In addition, the company’s high volume manufacturing line commissioned earlier in the year is in full mass production and is shipping products to major customers worldwide. “At Henghao, we manufacture and produce high-end devices based on One Film Solution (OFS) using silver nanowires because its thin and lightweight qualities are well-suited to our needs,” said C.C. Hsu, general manager of Henghao Technology. “We are excited that OFS is being used to address the high-end market coupled with thin and high performing touch sensor designs. We recognize Cambrios as a leader in silver nanowire technology, delivering value and performance to our company.” With significantly higher conductivity than indium tin oxide (ITO), Cambrios’ next generation silver nanowire inks are well-suited for mobile phones, tablets and flexible devices. The new products vastly improve optical performance, and enable highly sought after single-layer, multi-touch sensors for very narrow-bezel designs. Cambrios is currently shipping its high volume current generation inks as well as its next-generation silver nanowire inks to customers. The new inks offer superior performance and flexibility, all key requirements for mobile phones, tablets and laptops. Silver nanowire technology is a proven viable alternate to the incumbent solution, ITO, and is leaving behind other alternative technologies such as metal mesh. ClearOhm material based touch sensors are already in dozens of consumer electronics devices worldwide. “Cambrios has seen tremendous momentum in the past year and as a testament to our success, we launched our next generation silver nanowires and completed the expansion of our manufacturing facility,” said John LeMoncheck, president and CEO of Cambrios. “This will help us to not only meet current demand and upside, but also to increase market share as new touch-enabled and flexible screen devices are deployed.” Cambrios will be showcasing its ClearOhm coating material, touch panels and end products at CEATEC 2014 in its exclusive suite at the Manhattan Hotel in Chiba, Japan. CEATEC is being held in Makuhari Messe on Oct. 7- 11, 2014. Also at CEATEC, Cambrios’ partner TPK will be speaking in the session, “TPK’s New Touch Formation” on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. JST. During the session, Tom Sun, president and CEO of TPK Touch Solutions Group, will discuss the touch screen industry’s evolution over the past year and how TPK uses silver nanowires to address next-generation touch solutions.
