Brewer Science, Inc. broke ground on a new facility at the Rolla National Airport, which will be used to produce advanced materials needed for manufacturing next-generation smartphones, tablet computers and other microelectronic devices.

The new 25,000 square-foot manufacturing facility will expand Missouri’s advanced technology footprint and create 65 new high-tech jobs for the state. Brewer Science is part of Missouri’s emerging I-44 technology corridor, which spans the state from St. Louis to Joplin. The construction of the Brewer Science facility is an initial step in a broader plan to transform Rolla National Airport into a manufacturing and transportation hub.

“As the Brewer Science customer base has grown and expanded around the globe, we have continued to grow and expand in Missouri, where we are proud to maintain our global headquarters,” said Dr. Terry Brewer, CEO of Brewer Science. “Our new facility will help make possible the next generation of smartphones, tablet computers, and additional high-tech innovations still to come to market. We are excited about the future of technology and Brewer Science’s future in Missouri. We are grateful to the local, state, and federal officials with us today who support Missouri manufacturing and the research and development that is the lifeblood of Brewer Science.”

“The expansion of Brewer Science is good for private sector job creation and economic opportunity in Missouri,” said U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (R-MO). “Brewer Science is consistently at the forefront of high-tech and advanced manufacturing fields, and this new facility continues to advance our shared goal of creating and keeping good-paying, high-skilled jobs statewide.”

“The expansion by Brewer Science in Rolla, and creation of 65 new high-tech jobs, will expand the state of Missouri’s high-tech and manufacturing sector footprints, which is a big win for our state’s economy,” said Gov. Jay Nixon. “My administration has made a concerted effort to grow the Information Technology and Advanced Manufacturing sectors of Missouri’s economy, and this expansion is more proof that our efforts are bearing fruit.”

“I’m excited that Brewer Science has announced a new manufacturing facility in Vichy to accompany their headquarters in my hometown,” said U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO), who was born in Rolla, MO. “The addition of skilled manufacturing jobs will provide a boost to Missouri’s economy and continue to grow our reputation as a cutting-edge leader in new technology.”

This newest Brewer Science building incorporates many of the industry’s highest standards. Utilizing Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) guidelines, the new facility will use geothermal systems for heating and cooling. Designed to be energy-efficient and environmentally sensitive, in addition to conforming to state-of-the-art safety specifications, the building will have the infrastructure to manufacture high-volume products that meet or exceed International Organization for Standardization (ISO) requirements.
