BASF to Increase Price for Butanediol in North America

BDO and its derivatives are widely used for producing plastics, solvents, electronic chemicals and elastic fibers.

Effective Oct. 1, 2016 or as existing contracts permit, BASF will raise prices in North America for 1,4-Butanediol (BDO) by $0.04/pound (US dollars about $90/metric ton).
 
BDO and its derivatives are widely used for producing plastics, solvents, electronic chemicals and elastic fibers. BASF, the leading producer of BDO globally, has an annual production capacity of 670,000 metric tons from operating plants in Ludwigshafen, Germany; Geismar, LA; Kuantan, Malaysia; Caojing, China; Chiba, Japan and Korla, China.
