Azuri has been named a winner and the top solar power offering at The West Africa Forum for Clean Energy Financing (WAFCEF) Business Plan competition in Accra, Ghana. WAFCEF is the final stage of a business plan competition that was launched in March 2013.

In a process running more than six months, an initial 200 plans were reduced to 10 finalists. During the two-day event in Accra, each business plan was tested by a series of experts from the organizing sponsors, including investors, industry specialists and business executives with an interest in enabling cleaner and greener projects in West Africa, followed by a competitive pitch for financing.

Azuri’s winning plan is built on the company’s experience in Sierra Leone and provides for a specific financial and delivery vehicle to accelerate deployment of solar power in West Africa, with the objective of reaching 5 million individuals by 2018.

The purpose of the Forum is to identify and nurture entrepreneurs, start-up companies and existing companies with promising clean energy projects by linking them with investors and financiers.
