Avient Corporation announced that its production facility in the Chin Bee area of Jurong, Singapore, has received International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS accreditation. This certification demonstrates that the polymer solutions produced at this site use the mass balance approach to certify bio-derived feedstock materials with reliable traceability, clear identification of feedstock sources, and accurate sustainability claims. The ISCC PLUS certification uses a mass balance chain-of-custody approach, which involves third-party accounting and tracking of the bio-sourced content in materials. Additionally, Avient’s recently launched, third-party-certified Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) calculator plays a role in quantifying the environmental impact of these materials, further providing customers with transparent and reliable data to support their sustainability initiatives. “Avient is experiencing a significant surge in demand for sustainable materials solutions, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region,” said Derrick Chan, GM of Color & Additives Southeast Asia at Avient. “Original equipment manufacturers and customers across various industries, such as household appliances, toys, cosmetics, and packaging, are increasingly turning to materials derived from circular and renewable sources to help reduce carbon footprint and environmental impact. The accreditation of our Chin Bee plant not only enhances our global capacity to produce ISCC PLUS-certified bio-derived products but also positions us to better support our customers in achieving their sustainability goals.” The Chin Bee facility is the first Avient site in Asia and the sixth site globally to achieve this certification, including the Malmö (Sweden) and Saint Ouen L’Aumône (France) facilities, which were accredited in 2024. This expansion of ISCC PLUS-certified production facilities underscores Avient’s commitment to sustainability and its role in promoting a more circular economy. This certification, in conjunction with the facility’s existing ISO 22000-certified Food Safety Management System and ISO 13485-certified Quality Management System for medical devices, also positions the Chin Bee site to meet stringent hygiene and regulatory requirements for products for mothers and children, food-contact packaging, and the medical and pharmaceutical industries.
