Precision Dynamics-TimeMed announced today that all 21 hospitals recently ranked by U.S. News & World Report’s Honor Roll of America’s best hospitals use the company’s products to help improve patient identification and safety.

In U.S. News and World Report’s July issue, it examined data on 4,861 hospitals, based on 16 specialties from cancer and heart disease to respiratory disorders and urology. Of the 174 hospitals that are ranked in one or more specialties, 21 qualified for the Honor Roll by earning high scores in at least six specialties. This demonstrates unusual breadth of excellence.

“Precision Dynamics-TimeMed is pleased to be associated with the best and safest hospitals in America,” said company president and CEO Gary Hutchinson. “I think it’s important and appropriate that patient safety has been added as a new category in ranking the top hospitals. The Joint Commission, World Healthcare Organization, and FDA have identified inaccurate oral and written communication as a main barrier to patient safety.

“To improve patient identification, today’s top hospitals and their patients are benefiting from automated technologies, like bar code ID wristband systems, for the systematic prevention of medical errors,” Hutchinson added. “With the current administration’s push toward electronic medical record (EMR) systems, more and more hospitals will be coming on board. PDC-TimeMed is proud to support them in this critical area of patient safety and quality care.”
