Seiko Epson Corporation opened a manufacturing facility for Epson’s first high-capacity ink tank inkjet printers in India on July 4, 2025, within the factory of its partner, RIKUN Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd. in Chennai, India. Mass production is scheduled to begin in October 2025.

Compared to traditional printers with ink cartridges, these printers offer a lower ink cost per milliliter and easier ink replacement, making them both more economical and more convenient for users. Less frequent ink replacement also means reduced consumables consumption and waste, helping to mitigate environmental impact.

High-capacity ink tank printers are widely used for various everyday printing tasks, and between their 2010 launch and September 2024, more than 100 million units have been sold worldwide, including more than 8 million units in India.

This new manufacturing facility is part of Epson’s broader efforts to localize production and cater to demand in India.
