Zebra Technologies announced the successful implementation of Zebra healthcare solutions at Clínica de las Américas, a leading hospital and healthcare provider in Santa Cruz.

The deployment was designed to enhance patient care, improve process traceability and communication as well as reduce prescription errors.

The alignment among medical and non-medical staff, along with the traceability of processes throughout the institution, are crucial for Clínica de las Américas to provide exceptional care to more than 300 patients on a daily basis. By integrating Zebra’s DS2208-HC scanner, ZD510-HC and ZD421 desktop printers as well as ZC300 card printers and Zebra supplies, the clinic has enhanced visibility throughout the patient journey through meticulous monitoring of patient care.

“In addition to increasing our efficiency and ensure patient safety, our goals for this technology deployment include offering better personalized care to our patients along with improving staff communication and prescription inventory management,” said Dr. Felipe Teles, executive medical director, Clínica de las Américas. “Since implementing Zebra’s solutions, we have had a 40% reduction in patient care errors. This significant drop is a testament to the efficiency and effectiveness of these solutions in a critical healthcare setting.”

Zebra solutions allowed the automation of various routine tasks, freeing up valuable time for the medical staff to concentrate more on what is truly important: providing enhanced patient care. Furthermore, digitalization has notably improved communication amongst teams, facilitating seamless coordination and collaboration to deliver the best possible healthcare outcomes.

Patient satisfaction rates have soared post-implementation. Based on patient feedback, satisfaction in the triage process has increased to 80% and to 91% in overall medical assistance and patient care.

“Zebra offers a full suite of purpose-built healthcare solutions leveraging wristband and label printers, barcode scanners, mobile computers, tablets, communication software and real-time location systems (RTLS) to facilitate better care collaboration, improved communications and optimized workflow efficiencies throughout the patient journey,” said Alejandro Prosperi, VP of sales and GM, South of Latin America, Zebra Technologies. “We give healthcare teams more power to solve issues efficiently, allowing clinicians to take back their day and have more time for care.”
