Oxford PV Completes Build-out of its Brandenburg Factory

Oxford PV announced it has completed the build-out of its manufacturing site in Brandenburg an der Havel, Germany. The site houses the world’s first volume manufacturing line for Oxford PV’s perovskite-on-silicon tandem solar cells with an annual target manufacturing capacity of 100 MW.

Oxford PV expects the line to start full production in 2022.

“Our UK and German teams, along with our supplier partners, have worked diligently to build out our Brandenburg factory,” said Frank P. Averdung, CEO of Oxford PV. “Since 2017, we have been operating a small volume line on site, which has enabled us to optimize our product and verify that we meet our long-term stability and manufacturability targets. Now that the technology is ready for deployment and the factory build-out has been completed, we are excited about our journey ahead to realize our mission to make perovskite PV the mainstream solar technology.” 

With the achievement of this factory milestone, Oxford PV has terminated its exclusive relationship with Meyer Burger.

Oxford PV is a technology leader in the field of perovskite-based photovoltaics with a portfolio of more than 350 patents. In December 2020, Oxford PV’s perovskite solar cell set a new certified world record efficiency of 29.52%.
