Printed electronics is already driving innovation across many industries. Every year, LOPEC, the international exhibition and conference for the printed electronics industry, provides visitors with information about new products, technologies and trends. The next LOPEC will be held from March 13 to 15, 2018. The possibilities opened up by printed electronics for electronic manufacturers will also be a topic at the Innovation Forum of productronica, the world’s leading trade fair for electronics development and production. Visitors will be able to examine specific products more closely on the booth of the OE-A (Organic and Printed Electronics Association). What possibilities does printed electronics offer to electronics manufacturers? What applications and technologies are already on the market? The answers to such questions will be given by top-class international experts from industry and research at productronica, which will be held from Nov. 14 to 17, 2017 in the grounds of Messe München. At the Innovation Forum in Hall B2, two afternoons will be devoted to printed electronics. The forum’s focus on “Printed Electronics Insights” will be organized by OE-A, a working group within the VDMA. On Nov. 15, the lecture series will focus on ‘Advancing Wearables’. On Nov. 16, the topic will be ‘Applications and New Developments’. These seminars will be free for visitors of productronica. Given that LOPEC ranks as international exhibition and conference for the printed electronics industry, this event will naturally also be represented at productronica. Together with the OE-A, LOPEC will have a separate booth (B2.457) where interested visitors will be informed about the conference and exhibition. In addition, OE-A will bring some real printed electronics products and prototypes to illustrate the technology. For productronica visitors it will provide an exciting taster for the upcoming LOPEC, which will be held for the tenth time from March 13 to 15, 2018 at ICM – International Congress Center München. The seminar series “Printed Electronics Insights” In these lectures, OE-A members from industry and research will demonstrate the possibilities of printed electronics: For example, Dr. Jeremy Burroughes, OE-A Chairman and CTO of Cambridge Display Technology Ltd., will introduce a novel technology for printed OLED that significantly reduces production costs compared to conventional manufacturing. This is a major development, because cost-effective production processes are vital for price-sensitive markets such as smart cards and white goods. Jaap Lombaers, Innovation Director of Holst Centre, will show how printed electronics can be applied to enable smart functions to any surface of any shape. Lombaers will illustrate these applications with examples from important industry sectors such as automotive, IoT and wearable electronics. Dr Martin Busch, Sales Manager at Coatema Coating Machinery GmbH, will offer insights into the latest developments in “Printed Electronics and Printed Sensors Manufacturing”, while Dr. Mark James, R&D Director at Merck Chemicals, highlights the benefits of organic semiconductor materials. At the same time as productronica: the World Manufacturers Forum 2017 Alongside productronica, the World Manufacturers Forum will also be taking place on Nov. 14 and 15 at ICM – International Congress Center München. This two-day event will be hosted by the WFSGI (World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry). Dr. Klaus Hecker, Managing Director of the OE-A, will give a keynote speech on Nov. 15 in the Forum: ‘Printed Electronics: Endurance, Resistance, Score!’ He will be introducing the advantages and possible uses of printed electronics in thesports sector. You can find further information about this lecture and the World Manufacturers Forum here.
