Partnership further solidifies acceleration of the large area touch market

Cambrios Technologies Corporation announced its partnership with sensor maker eTurboTouch Technology Inc. to develop large area touch sensors made with Cambrios’ ClearOhm coating material. The advanced touch sensors will be used in large consumer devices such as Ultrabooks and All-in-One computers. Cambrios will showcase a touch module utilizing eTurboTouch touch sensors at the 2013 International CES in Las Vegas, Janu. 8-11, 2013. “Partnering with eTurboTouch to create touch sensors not only builds out our growing global supply chain with a well-established sensor maker, but also highlights how our innovations are providing ODMs and OEMs with cost-effective, high-performance solutions for touch sensors larger than 10 inches,” said John LeMoncheck, president and CEO of Cambrios. Already an established manufacturer in the touchscreen supply chain, eTurboTouch provides advanced sensors for computer OEMs and ODMs including Lenovo, HP, Intel, Dell, Acer and Asus, and is now broadening production of large-scale, touch-enabled sensors. eTurboTouch is the latest addition to Cambrios’ ecosystem of IC suppliers, sensor makers and film suppliers to serve the large area touch market. Film-based sensors are preferred to traditional glass-based sensors for panels larger than 10 inches because of their lower-cost, lighter-weight, thinness and “shatter-proof” qualities. Film-based sensors enabled by Cambrios’ ClearOhm coating material offer additional numerous advantages, including superior optical performance and high conductivity ranging from 10 to 300 Ohms/square, which is unachievable with indium tin oxide (ITO) sputtered on film. Sensor products based on ClearOhm coating material can also be brought to market quickly as they can be produced through fast, cost-effective manufacturing processes on existing equipment. “Cambrios’ ClearOhm material makes it possible for eTurboTouch to cost effectively meet the unrelenting mass-market demand for touch panels by our customers that manufacture projected capacitive touch devices with large screens,” said Kim Wang, chairman of eTurboTouch. “ClearOhm transparent conductive materials provide not only high conductivity and outstanding optical and electrical performance, but also low resistance and high transmission, all of which are essential for large area touch applications.”
