Azuri CEO Simon Bransfield-Garth will speak at the maiden TEDxCambridgeUniversity event on August 15, under the theme, “The Power of Resilience.” The talk will provide a stage to share the company’s journey and big ideas far beyond the innovation hub that is Cambridge.

Bransfield-Garth will describe, through the stories of the individuals themselves, how the combination of solar technology, mobile phones and community-orientated distribution is transforming the lives of families in rural sub-Saharan Africa. He will explore how distributed, “bottom-up” energy can reach the places the conventional grid is unlikely ever to reach, leveling the playing field for rural consumers compared to their urban counterparts.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a conference in California 26 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with many initiatives.
