Hanergy’s Renewable Energy Exhibition Center, the world’s first professional exhibition hall dedicated to solar power and clean energy, was inaugurated in Beijing. The exhibition center took two years to build, with funding from Hanergy Holding Group, one of the world’s leading thin-film solar power companies. “The history of human society is the history of discovering and using new energy resources,” said Li Hejun, chairman and chief executive of Hanergy Holding Group. “As a platform for international exchange and cooperation and public education, the Renewable Energy Exhibition Center will display the latest clean energy technologies and make its contribution to push for the development and transformation of the clean energy industry.” The Hanergy Renewable Energy Exhibition Center is located in the north end of the Beijing Olympic Forest Park, with a floor area of 7,119 square meters. The Exhibition Center houses eight exhibition halls and one cinema that, with the help of the state-of-the-art multimedia technology and mechanical automation models, display the history of energy use, present the energy challenges we currently face and demonstrate numerous possibilities for how future generations might use energy resources. The first four exhibition halls look back upon the history of mankind’s energy use, featuring video, models, photo and text that present the origin of the earth’s energy resources, the energy revolutions that accompanied the first and second Industrial Revolution, as well as the energy and pollution crises faced by modern society. These exhibition halls, separately focused on firewood, coal, petroleum and energy in the human context, present hard facts and vivid scenes to paint a comprehensive blueprint about the progress human society has made in revolutionizing energy use. The remaining four exhibition halls demonstrate the history of clean energy resources and their important significance to the sustainable development of human society in the 21st century. Thin-film power generation technology, which could direct the future development of clean energy, has been applied in fields such as architecture, automobiles, electronics, wearable devices, commercial drones and specialty products, and is heralding in another revolution that will transform perception about energy use. With the help of customized lights and special effects, the exhibition halls demonstrate a series of technologies like integrated thin-film power generation, sensor measurement and mobile energy Internet that integrates IT and computer technology with the physical power grid. The mobile energy Internet, based on thin-film power generation technology, can fully cater to users’ energy demands, and optimize resource allocation to ensure energy supply is secure, reliable and economical. This signifies the onset of the mobile energy era. In addition, the exhibition center itself is a product of technological innovation and environmentally-friendly design. The facade and roof of the building are installed with power-generating thin-film solar cells that ensure a clean and steady energy supply while surplus power can be transmitted back to the power grid to be used by other energy consumers. The exhibition center is equipped with a smart power grid management system, independently developed by Hanergy, to manage the whole process from power generation and consumption, to power storage and sale.
