Targets carbon and silver offerings for growing flexo and gravure markets
December 2, 2010
By: DAVID SAVASTANO
Contributing Editor, Coatings World and Ink World
DuPont Microcircuit Materials (MCM) highlighted two conductive inks for use in flexographic and gravure processes used to produce printed electronics such as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags, smart packaging, sensors, displays, and solid state lighting at the IDTechEx Printed Electronics & Photovoltaics USA 2010 Conference and Trade Show, held Dec. 1-2 in Santa Clara, CA. “DuPont MCM is committed to working closely with its customers to ensure high-performance and cost-effective materials are available to meet the needs of emerging printed electronics applications, with products such as DuPont 5067 carbon and 5069 silver ink compositions,” said Scott Gordon, Americas marketing manager – Printed Electronics Segment – DuPont Microcircuit Materials. “With close customer interactions, we create both standard and customized product types for printed electronics.” DuPont is now featuring its 5069 silver and 5067 carbon ink compositions for the growing flexographic and gravure printing markets. DuPont 5069 is a water-based silver conductive composition designed for providing highly conductive coating on varied surfaces. It features high electrical conductivity, meets low volatile organic compound (VOC) requirements and demonstrates excellent adhesion to plastic and paper substrates. DuPont 5067 is a carbon conductive composition with similar low VOC and superior adhesion properties. DuPont MCM is an experienced supplier of electronic inks and pastes and has developed several hundred electronic materials that are printed and commercially available today for a range of processes and applications. These include screen printable compositions: The newest from DuPont MCM are 7723, a low-temperature firing silver ink suitable for printing on glass; and DuPont 9169, a low-temperature curing Ag ink designed for ITO coated flexible substrates. Additional conductor and dielectric ink compositions have also been developed for alternate patterning methods such as photopatterning, spray, dip and brush applications. DuPont MCM continues to build its portfolio of products for printed electronics and other high-growth markets, with leading materials including DuPont Solamet photovoltaic metallization inks for higher efficiency solar cells. DuPont MCM supports its global customer base with product development and application support in every region.
