SCHOTT North America Snyder’s-Lance Inc. Inaugurates Pennsylvania’s Largest Ground-Mounted Solar Farm

SCHOTT Solar PV, Inc. and Reading, PA-based RMK Solar inaugurated the largest ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) solar farm in Pennsylvania at Snyder’s-Lance, Inc. The 3.55 megawatt (MW) solar system will generate approximately 30 percent of Snyder’s-Lance’s annual power consumption.

RMK Solar utilized local workers to install the ground-mounted system, which consists of 15,092 SCHOTT POLY 235 solar panels on approximately 26 acres across from Snyder’s-Lance’s Hanover, PA manufacturing plant. The installation created 12 new jobs. The solar panels were manufactured at SCHOTT Solar’s flagship manufacturing facility in Albuquerque, NM.

In addition to its cost-saving benefits, the solar installation will significantly help Snyder’s-Lance achieve its environmental goals. Over the course of 25 years, the solar system will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by the equivalent of 111,328,402 miles not driven by an average medium-sized car.
