AVANCIS produces its premium range of PowerMax CIS products solely in Germany. System operators in the Italian market who purchase these quality products made in European Union (EU) can enjoy a 10 percent higher feed-in rate. This is provided for by the latest amendment of the Conto Energia IV – the Italian equivalent to the German Renewable Energy Law (EEG).

The revised Italian solar laws provide operators of PV systems who solely use components manufactured in the EU with a 10 percent higher feed-in rate – and that applies for more than 20 years. A quality initiative that’s worthwhile in two ways: firstly, the higher reimbursement entitlement and secondly, the higher standards often found in products from the EU that make themselves felt for many decades.

The German certification body, TÜV Rheinland, has now confirmed that the PowerMax solar modules from AVANCIS meet the Made in EU criteria in the Italian regulation for a higher feed-in rate. In order to qualify, at least 60 percent of the components used in the system must originate from an EU country.

AVANCIS has produced its CIS solar modules right from the start in Torgau in Saxony and almost all of the components used come from the EU. Against the general trend to relocate production to non-European countries, AVANCIS is even expanding its production capacity in Germany: a second factory with an annual capacity of 100 MWp will commence operation to produce a new product line in Torgau in the first quarter of next year.

“The origin of our CIS solar modules can be identified clearly and unequivocally by anyone: all our modules have a data matrix code which is applied to the substrate glass by laser scribing. This combination of letters and numbers provides information about the production location, the production line and the date on which the module was produced,” explained Dr. Tom Clarius, director for quality at AVANCIS. “We are pleased to provide customers of our wholesale dealers operating in Italy with another reason to decide in favor of our quality products and profit from the higher subsidy.”
