MC10 announced it has been named a 2013 Technology Pioneer, a prestigious award from the World Economic Forum honoring the world’s most innovative technology start-ups. MC10 was selected for its groundbreaking conformal electronics platform that empowers people to play a more active role in staying healthy.

MC10 reshapes high-performance electronics into ultra-thin, conformal systems that stretch, bend and flex seamlessly with the body. The company is developing products that can be used both on and in the body, including sensors that monitor heart rate, brain activity, muscle function, body temperature and hydration, as well as an entirely new class of intelligent medical devices with embedded sensors for enhanced sensing and therapeutic capabilities.

“MC10 is focused on extending human capabilities with virtually invisible and conformal electronics,” said David Icke, CEO of MC10. “Recognition by the World Economic Forum is tremendous validation of the team’s hard work and dedication to developing new electronic systems that improve our quality of life.”

The World Economic Forum class of 2013 Technology Pioneers includes 23 industry-changing companies that were chosen for their potential to transform the future of business and society. Each year the World Economic Forum chooses its Technology Pioneers from hundreds of applicants that are vetted by a distinguished selection committee of top technology and innovation experts.

“These companies are more than pioneering the way we use technology; they are transforming how we as a society are growing and interacting with each other,” Silvia von Gunten, head of the Technology Pioneers at the World Economic Forum, noted. “They are also providing new opportunities for people to harness the potential of technology.”
