Confidex, the world’s leading supplier of high-performing contactless ticketing and RFID tag solutions, announces that in August 2012 it has exceeded the 300 million pieces milestone in delivering limited use contactless tickets, compliant with NFC Forum Type 2.

In addition, reinforcing its position as a trusted high volume ticket supplier and global UHF RFID tag solutions provider, Confidex introduces its new NFC product offering to serve the widening adoption of near field communication technology and ubiquitous information sharing with mobile devices.

Every day, Confidex’s limited use contactless tickets allow mass transit passengers to conveniently and reliably commute while experiencing the benefits of contactless ecosystems. The foundation for Confidex’s success in delivering contactless tickets to more than 30 cities on all continents is rooted in its commitment to delivering uncompromised quality. To meet this quality commitment, Confidex maintains full control over the integrated, high volume ticket production, personalization and service value chain.

In August 2012, Confidex exceeded the milestone of shipping its 300 millionth limited use contactless ticket. Confidex’s contactless ticket business is complemented by its leading position in industrial RFID tags, where Confidex has been the supplier of choice in the biggest returnable transit item (RTI) tagging projects worldwide.

“The adoption of contactless ticketing has been growing rapidly as the benefits for public transport operators can be measured by the smooth commuting and reduced maintenance costs. The emergence of NFC will bring mobile phones as a new payment option. This will further increase the value of contactless infrastructure and grow the market for all kinds of contactless fare payment media,” said Timo Lindström, CEO of Confidex.

Building on its unparalleled experience and expertise, Confidex expands its NFC offering to new types of Confidex NFC Forum Type 2 compliant tags. These new NFC tags are designed for multipurpose use in industrial asset management, authentication & safety and communication and experience applications. Special product variants are available for different surfaces and environments, including metal, and applications including mechanical impacts, chemicals and moisture.

“As we see NFC adoption growing from small scale pilots to volume roll-outs, it is a pre-requisite for the NFC tag supplier to have total control over quality and product performance. The added value that Confidex brings to the NFC ecosystem is the capacity and competence to ensure consistent quality supply in very large volumes,” explained Lindström.
