Soligie, a market leader in design and manufacture of printed electronics, announced that industry veteran Dr. David Fyfe has joined Soligie’s Advisory Board. Dr. Fyfe has considerable experience leading internationally focused businesses and cultivating them through acquisitions, joint ventures and partnerships. In 2000 Dr. Fyfe became chairman and CEO of Cambridge Display Technology, a 1992 spinout from Cambridge University developing P-OLED (Polymer Light-Emitting Diode) technology. In these positions he grew CDT into a commercial business through a combination of organic growth, acquisition of three complementary technology companies, partnership with a number of predominantly Asian companies and a joint venture with Sumitomo Chemical for P-OLED materials development and commercialization. He led the company to a listing on Nasdaq in 2004, raised over $120 million in funding in private and public placing and in September 2007 led a merger with Sumitomo Chemical which gave CDT shareholders $285 million in cash. He is a recognized leader in, and champion for, the rapidly growing OLED industry. In addition to his Advisory Board position with Soligie, Dr. Fyfe sits on the board of the Plastic Electronics Foundation which last month attracted over 500 delegates to its conference in Berlin, Germany. He also sits on the board of Acal Energy, a UK-based fuel cell technology developer, and for the past three years has chaired the World OLEDs Summit. He is a frequent invited speaker at international OLED and display industry conferences. He holds degrees from Cambridge University in Natural Sciences and a PhD from the UK’s Council for National Academic Awards for research done on an electrochemistry topic. “Soligie is proud that Dr. Fyfe has agreed to accept this important role,” said Matt Timm, President of Soligie. “His extensive technical and business expertise in printed electronics provides a unique and valuable perspective to our Advisory Board.” “Soligie fills a void in the industry by offering design and high volume manufacturing that integrates displays, memory and other components into printed electronics products. The customers for these innovative products are often ‘fabless’ and seek a company such as Soligie which can deliver the integrated product design for them to market. This is a key component of the technology ‘ecosystem’ required to bring innovative concepts to market. I’m very pleased to have the opportunity to work with the talented management and staff at Soligie backed by the resources and enthusiasm of Taylor Corporation for this emerging form of printed product,” adds Dr. Fyfe.
