SCHOTT’s Fiber Optics Division introduced the next generation of its LLS (LED Light Source), designed to bring a new level of performance to machine vision devices. Unveiled at the Vision Show, the new generation LLS offers several advantages over other types of fiber optic light sources including longer lifetime, low power consumption, small form factor and very low heat generation. The new version of SCHOTT’s LLS generates approximately twice the intensity of light output for all colors (red, green, blue and white) as compared to the previous generation.

The new SCHOTT LLS consumes less than 25 watts of power and has a lifetime of up to 50,000 hours. Another new feature of the LLS is an internal light feedback function, which provides stabilized light output for the most demanding machine vision applications.

“Ethernet connectivity resulted from polling several machine vision customers and by adding further features, the SCHOTT LLS offers a new level of performance while preserving its advantages in longevity and low power consumption” said Carl VanDommelen of SCHOTT.

The SCHOTT LLS operates anywhere in the world as its interchangeable plugs ensure compatibility with any local power supply. It features a small footprint (7.75 x 5.08 x 2.48 inches) and weighs 1.9 pounds.

The LLS meets the European Union’s RoHS (Restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances) for electrical and electronic equipment. The product is CE approved.
