Cymbet Corporation today announced that it has been honored with a Sensors’ “Best of Sensors Expo 2009” bronze award. Cymbet won this award for its EnerChip EH CBC5300 energy harvesting module, which is a key enabler for autonomous wireless sensor networks.

The Sensors “Best of Sensors Expo” awards honor the most exciting new products that were on display at the Sensors Expo & Conference, which took place June 8-9, 2009, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL. All entries were judged on the basis of potential impact, application, distinctiveness, timeliness and availability.

The Cymbet EnerChip EH CBC5300 module is an advanced micro energy harvesting solution that efficiently captures energy from photovoltaic cells and other energy harvesting transducers, stores the energy and manages power distribution to the rest of the device. At the heart of this 24-pin DIP module is the EnerChip thin-film battery that offers a truly unique combination in battery technology: fast charge times, >5000 recharges, reflow solderable and eco-friendliness. With a small form factor, the highly rechargeable, solid-state, thin-film EnerChip battery can be economically and reliably integrated as an embedded device or as a surface-mounted component.

“We are honored to receive this prestigious Best of Show award from Sensors,” said Bill Priesmeyer Cymbet president and CEO. “This recognition is another validation that our EnerChips are a key enabler in energy harvesting-based devices, embedded electronics and wireless sensor applications. We are looking forward to working with our customers to bring exciting new products to market.”
