Flexographic Technical Association said it plans to launch its latest publication, FIRST 6.0, at Fall Conference 2017 in St. Louis.

FIRST stands for Flexographic Image Reproduction Specifications & Tolerances. It was designed to provide all members of the flexographic supply chain with the technical information needed to produce high-quality and consistent print results, according to the FTA website.

FIRST 6.0 outlines updates of the most current, state-of-the-art industry practices utilized for the finest results in printing quality and consistency, per FTA Marketing Manager Eileen Cosma.

The Bohemia, N.Y.-based Association’s workbook represents a specific methodology for control, optimization, fingerprinting, characterization and process improvements for flexographic printers, Cosma added.

Said shared Jeff Randazzo, FIRST founder and past chair: “When introduced to the flexographic printing process it was described to me as a crude rubber stamp process only suited to print bread, ice, and grocery bags.”

A special, 20-year anniversary edition of FIRST 6.0 will be available for purchase exclusively at Fall Conference 2017, which runs from Oct. 9-11 at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at The Arch.

This year’s theme is “The Gateway to Technology.”
