Sun Chemical will showcase its portfolio of inks, adhesives and coatings for packaging during LatinPack 2018, which takes place at Espacio Riesco in Santiago, Chile from June 7-8. “Our customers are looking for ways to increase productivity, reduce waste and meet brand owner requirements for sustainability, shelf standout and color consistency,” said Fernando Tavara, president, Sun Chemical Latin America. “At LatinPack 2018, Sun Chemical will highlight a variety of innovative solutions that both meet regulatory requirements and are tailor made to meet the specific needs of each individual customer.” Renewable, Compostable, Eco-Friendly Platform To meet current trends moving toward greener living, Sun Chemical will highlight its SunVisto AquaGreen water-based inks at booth B9a. Formulated with significantly higher levels of bio-renewable sourced resin content compared to other previous market offerings from Sun Chemical, the new water-based inks deliver the required critical performance attributes needed across a range of paper packaging applications to meet the requirements brands have for truly sustainable packaging in quick service supermarkets and restaurants. Sun Chemical’s renewable inks will be the focus of a presentation to be given by Viviana Sayegh, Technical Director, Packaging, Sun Chemical Latin America entitled “Renewable, Compostable, Eco-Friendly Platform.” The presentation will take place in Room No. 2 on Friday, June 8, at 12:30 p.m. One Stop Source for Both Inks and Lamination Adhesives The SunLam family of lamination adhesives consists of water-based, solvent-free and solvent-based products designed to meet the needs of all major packaging applications, including retort lamination for food packages. With local inventories available everywhere in Latin America along with strong local customer technical service, SunLam has been formulated to complement Sun Chemical’s wide range of lamination inks in the most demanding environments and applications. SunLam lamination adhesives deliver superior adhesion, a fast curing combination of adhesive and hardener to reduce the delay between lamination, slitting and shipping, improved resistance to strongly acidic foods and liquids, suitability for use with both flexographic and rotogravure print processes, and high bond strengths even after package sterilization or boiling. Converters can also use a SunLam lamination adhesive with oxygen barrier properties to lightweight packaging by removing a film layer while still maintaining the protective functionality required to preserve the contents and avoid migration. Best-in-Class Migration-Compliant Metallic Inks Converters looking for eco-friendly metallic ink solutions can learn more about Sun Chemical’s SunPak FSP range of bio-based, lithographic inks for board and paper. Comprised of four stunning colors – silver, rich gold, rich pale gold and pale gold, SunPak FSP inks are ideal for food packaging, are migration-compliant, deliver outstanding printability, and offer visibly greater metallic brilliance than any other metallic inks currently available. Multi-Purpose Ink System Enhances Pressroom Productivity Suitable for surface print applications on a number of the commonly used flexible packaging substrates, Sun Chemical’s SunUno Solimax multi-purpose ink system will maximize press room efficiency while simplifying the overall print production process. Intended for surface printing and lamination for various end-use applications, such as lidding materials, medical laminates and food packaging for confectionery and snack food, these inks provide a single platform that can cover multiple end use applications and produce the shelf stand out and high-quality packaging needed for today’s competitive industry. Ink System for Flexography and Rotogravure Suitable for flexo and rotogravure printing, SunStrato Duratort is the latest generation of high strength, polyurethane-based, lamination inks suitable for reverse printing of flexible films for high performance packaging applications. The inks deliver the high speed, clean printing and low solvent retention required for maximum press efficiency, and provide the shelf stand out and high-quality package look required in today’s competitive performance packaging market. SunStrato Duratort premium lamination ink solutions are suitable for high-end lamination specifications, including high temperature processing, retort and sterilization, as well as demanding product resistance requirements such as egg, detergents, or aggressive cook-in sauces. Ink Solutions for the Expanded Color Gamut Print Process Booth visitors will learn how they can lock in on brand color equity for their customers using Sun Chemical’s full line of expanded color gamut inks for a wide range of printing applications. Using the expanded color gamut printing process allows customers to set up a simple process for efficient printing with more press uptime and accurate and repeatable color.
