Providing printing services for a multitude of departments across 12 high schools, 18 middle schools, and 56 elementary schools – approximately 117,000 students in the Houston area – Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District needed a device to support its print shop.

The district selected Canon’s Océ ColorStream for a “turnkey,” end-to-end solution.

Booklets comprise much of the facility’s work by volume, however, Cypress-Fairbanks School District operates a full-service print shop that includes offset and digital technology, full bindery capabilities, and large format printers for posters and banners.

Before acquiring the Océ ColorStream, the district had to outsource many jobs simply because it did not have the bandwidth to support the vast number of projects coming in year-round.

After adding the Océ ColorStream into the mix, a 92-page book that used to take about two weeks to print can now be printed, folded, stitched, and trimmed in 10 hours.

“The Océ ColorStream adds great value to our schools by allowing us to provide a better experience and better results for our teachers and students,” said Derrek Thompson, manager Printing Services, Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District. “Having improved turnaround times allows the content to get in the hands of the end-user faster.”
