Showcases its range of coding and marking technologies
June 16, 2014

Domino Printing Sciences pulled in the crowds at interpack 2014 (May 8-14, 2014) through its comprehensive range of coding and marking technologies. Demonstrating a number of new products and technology enhancements from its broad portfolio, Domino directly addressed the core themes of the event and generated a healthy attendance across the six days at Messe Düsseldorf in Germany. With the visiting packaging community chiefly focused on production efficiencies, substrate variation, quality of application and secure serialization, the Domino stand presented a range of customer propositions that were capable of accommodating such demands. There was notable interest in Domino’s new or enhanced products, which were: • The new A520i – which builds on the A-Series and the heritage of the i-Tech range: This highly resilient printer is designed for challenging production environments and comes wrapped in an IP55 marine grade stainless steel cabinet, with IP66 sealed electronics enclosure. It is also the first CIJ printer to incorporate the innovative plenum airflow cooling system, ensuring the printer stays cool whatever the production environment. • The new V230i thermal transfer overprinter (TTO): This brings high end features to a mid-range printer, with a more industrial design. • The F220i fiber scribing laser: Features enhanced beam quality for precision marking and sharper contrast, which is particularly suited to marking metals, plastics and flexible packaging. • The D-Series i-Tech 15: Particularly pertinent to the food and pharmaceutical sectors, this can be used to code, for example, stick packs or sachets, for dried or liquid foodstuffs, prior to being wrapped. It ensures that solutions comply with the serialization requirements of the European Falsified Medicines Directive (EU Directive 2011/62/EU) with both human readable and 2D datamatrix coding. • QuickDesign, Domino’s updated coding automation software suite. • M-Series range of print and apply labelers introduce a series of hardware and software enhancements. Also on show was Domino’s latest digital color inkjet label press, the N610i, which combines the productivity of flexo with the flexibility of digital inkjet technology. Enhanced with a chilled roller option for thermally sensitive substrates and capable of integrating with a third party finishing line, visitors discovered the benefits of bringing label production in-house to simplify production efficiencies, save on inventory and gain further production efficiency.
