Degussa Names Jim Smith Technical Director

Degussa Corp. announced that Denis “Jim” Smith has been named technical director of its Mobile, AL production facility. In this position, Mr. Smith will assess and interpret the plant’s current and future needs, including utilities, maintenance, planning, storage, engineering, project design and construction, and determine the most economical way to meet those needs with equal priorities placed on safety, quality and protection of the environment.
    
The company also named Stefan Uhrlandt technical market manager, silica and silicates. In this position, he will be responsible for for silica and silicates applied technology operations in the NAFTA region.
