Bill McDermott spent 22 years in a variety of roles at a major ink company as well as eight years as a business manager at a large specialty chemical company responsible for products sold to
ink companies.
He started his career with Sun Chemical in 1986 as a controller, followed by four years in procurement, managing all critical raw materials for GPI/Sun. He was promoted to regional manager for Sun Chemical’s Clearing branch. From there, McDermott moved into more sales and marketing areas, taking on roles of increasing responsibility.
After more than two decades in ink, McDermott made the transition to specialty chemicals. He is a respected member of the ink community. He was the global face of the Ingevity ink business, which includes managing products to the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific.
Based on his broad knowledge and experience in publication inks and printing, he is a valuable contributor to the overall industry. He has attended the NAPIM conventions, Summer Courses and Fall Technical Conferences for many years. He has served on various committees, particularly the Marketing and State of the Industry committees. McDermott has actively supported local printing groups in the Cincinnati area, along with the Chicago Printing Ink Production Club in the Chicago area. – NAPIM
