With its participation in the congress as the main partner at the Cradle to Cradle Congress, hubergroup underlined the importance of sustainability and environmental protection.
"We are aware of our social responsibility and see it as our task not only to optimize our own products and processes but to pass on their knowledge and to do some educational work," CEO Heiner Klokkers said.
The international Cradle to Cradle Congress (C2C) entered its sixth round this year.
The contributions of the renowned representatives from business, science, education, politics and society made it clear that environmental protection and economic growth are by no means mutually exclusive, but can form a meaningful symbiosis, hubergroup said.
In Berlin, the printing ink manufacturer presented itself with its innovative ideas and projects as a pioneer and important contact in the printing ink area.
As part of his lecture at the congress, Klokkers appealed to companies, consumers and politicians and called for action.
According to hubergroup, Cradle to Cradle should become more and more the industry standard.
hubergroup has already received the Cradle to Cradle Material Health certificate for the offset inks manufactured at the Indian plant in Vapi and is working towards full certification. To reduce the wastewater to a value of zero, a water treatment plant was built with which 95% of the water can be recovered from the wastewater stream.
hubergroup Italy is also already certified with a wide range of Gecko Cradle to Cradle.
The printing ink manufacturer itself has already launched several lighthouse projects. A success story is a partnership with Carlsberg, which operated a joint stand with the hubergroup at the C2C Congress.
The bottle labels for Carlsberg have been silver-certified since early 2019 and printed with hubergroup's Eco-Offset-Inks Premium Plus.
“Sustainability is an issue that concerns us all. Only if we all pull together can we make a difference and change the market sustainably," said Bernd Groh, global product & portfolio manager SF/UV, hubergroup. "The C2C Congress was an important platform for us to exchange and network with strategic partners. We see ourselves not only as a technology leader that deals with its competitors in the world of printing inks but as an influencer who has followers in all areas of society and not just in the printing industry."
