Sawgrass Technologies, Inc. appointed Dr. Mickael Mheidle as the first CEO of Sawgrass Europe.
Dr. Mheidle is widely considered one of the preeminent developers of digital ink technologies for both textile and non-textile applications. Most recently, he served as the global head of new business applications for Ciba Specialty Chemicals, where he focused on developing new solutions for such applications as inkjet printing of textiles and digital photography output. While at Ciba, Dr. Mheidle coordinated with partners Reggiani and Scitex Vision/Hewlett Packard the development and marketing of the DReAM, the first industrial digital printing system.
After receiving his Ph.D. in engineering science from the University of Haute Alsace, France, Dr. Mheidle began his career in 1984 as an R&D manager for a French research center and then as international technical sales manager for a petrochemical company. He joined Ciba-Geigy AG in Basel, Switzerland in 1988. From 1988 until this October he worked, respectively, for Ciba-Geigy, Novartis, Ciba Specialty Chemicals, and finally, Huntsman.
“Sawgrass Technologies is recognized globally for its leadership in sublimation technologies and our breakthroughs for printing on cotton,” said Nathan Hale, Sawgrass Technologies founder and CEO. “The appointment of Dr. Mheidle, with his extraordinary accomplishments, symbolizes our ongoing dedication to introduce even more transformational digital ink technologies.”
“My career has been devoted to helping companies find digital solutions to their technical problems. I look back with great pride at those solutions and the improvements they made possible,” said Dr. Mheidle. “Sawgrass is the entrepreneurial leader in the digital ink market. I am excited to join them and I share their vision that Sawgrass Europe will be a major innovator and primary provider of digital ink solutions for our many valued customers and partners.”
