ETAD, the Ecological and Toxicological Association of Dyes and Organic Pigments Manufacturers, has named Dr. Herbert Motschi ETAD executive director, effective Aug. 1. He replaces Dr. Eric Clarke, who is retiring after 26 years in various ETAD positions.
Dr. Motschi, who holds a doctorate degree in inorganic chemistry from the Federal Polytechnic (ETH), Zürich, studied as postdoctorate at Iowa State University before joining the Swiss Federal Institute for Water Resources and Water Pollution Control (EAWAG) in 1981. He joined ETAD (Ecological and Toxicological Association of Dyes and Organic Pigments Manufacturers) in 1991, after a five-year period with the safety of dyestuff and chemicals division of Ciba-Geigy AG, Basel.
In addition, ETAD North America has elected Carole Dixon of Clariant Corporation as chairperson and Tom Dukes of Ciba Specialty Chemicals as treasurer. Both will serve two-year terms. Ms. Dixon succeeds the outgoing chair, Dr. Janet Mostowy of Bayer Corporation.
