Sun Chemical has launched SunCure Display, an innovative range of UV curing offset inks for the large and very large format (VLF) offset sheetfed display printing market, at FESPA 2007.
SunCure Display offers excellent adhesion on non-absorbent stocks and boards as well as a variety of specialist materials, including plastic and composite substrates. It has also been designed with cost-efficiency in mind, as printers can use it to make-ready on ordinary paper, which avoids unnecessary waste of expensive materials.
"Together with some of the world's largest offset machinery manufacturers, who have introduced a new generation of large format sheetfed offset presses, we are working to change the landscape of the full color display printing sector in order to offer the printer greater choice and flexibility,” said John Adkin, Sun Chemical's European product director, sheetfed and UV. "SunCure Display's launch reacts to a growing need for the offset production of high quality POS materials, posters and display items - applications that, until now, have mainly been produced by screen and digital printing technology.
“This new ink meets the specific demands of the display graphics sector by offering robust lithographic performance, good dot reproduction and excellent cure. SunCure Display also exhibits excellent water balance and quick start-up properties to meet the requirements of the short-run printer."
The SunCure Display range includes product versions with high resistance shades and fastness-to-light capabilities, which are especially suitable for applications that will be used outdoors or in an artificially lit environment; or for products that will be exposed to daylight over a long period of time.
Also offered in the SunCure range is Sun Chemical's SunCure UV coatings in gloss or matt, for use on end-of-press anilox or roller coaters. SunCure UV protects the printed page from both mechanical and rub-resistance, which can often occur in wide and large format printing due to the weight of the paper.
