Sun Chemical will use CMM 2005 to showcase innovative inks and a new color management system designed to improve pressroom productivity and produce outstanding packaging that builds brand equity. Sun Chemical will be emphasizing its ability to provide converters a total package of inks, coatings, adhesives and other products, all available from a single source, that can help achieve improved results in the highly competitive packaging market.
“Converters are being asked to provide for continuous improvement and innovation across a broad range of packaging types, from folding carton to stand-up pouches,” said Richard Pettifor, president, Sun Chemical North American Packaging Inks. “Sun Chemical is the only ink supplier who can deliver such a complete and consistent line-up of packaging inks to printers anywhere in the world. We use our global resources and local service to help converters of all sizes.
“In addition to offering breakthrough technologies in brand security, ink jet printing on corrugated and color control systems, we are showing ink sets that offer converters substantial improvements in productivity and quality,” Mr. Pettifor said. “The versatility of these systems and their outstanding printed results can help printers gain an edge.”
For non-lamination surface printing, Sun Chemical is introducing SunSharp 1190, which can be used to print applications such as bags for bread or frozen foods, news mailers and some bottle wraps. These inks have good ice-water crinkle resistance and provide high gloss.
RotoPure HS inks have been developed for printing on films that require excellent adhesion and high lamination bonds. The newest addition to Sun Chemical’s RotoPure family of lamination inks, the HS series offers high pigmentation for maximum color strength. Formulated without the use of TDI or tin, RotoPure HS also balances health and environmental concerns. RotoPure HS features excellent printability at high speeds, and can be laminated with adhesives or primed extrusion processes.
Sun Chemical also is offering FlexoPure as a general-purpose lamination ink system which can be used on a wide latitude of flexible packaging films. Because FlexoPure has excellent solvent release and very low GCs, it makes an excellent ink choice for food packaging.
Coates USA recently introduced Harmony, a gravure ink system for the fast-growing shrink sleeve market. These inks produce excellent colors on a variety of films used for shrink sleeves, while resisting bottle blocking.
