Eckart America L.P. has developed a unique new non-leafing silver ink specially formulated for the patented MetalFX printing process. Eckart is now introducing its MetalStar MFX 06 9000 standard base offset silver, a new sheetfed ink that offers unique technology and excellent print properties.
Currently, the MetalFX process uses either leafing-based standard silver or premium silver base inks. Eckart’s new non-leafing silver 06 9000 exhibits unique optical and trapping properties while maintaining the strengths and advantages of the existing standard and premium MFX silver inks, according to the company. Additionally, the new Eckart MetalStar MFX non- leafing silver retains its brilliance level even when overcoated, which was not previously possible with other MFX base silver inks.
“This non-leafing silver has been especially developed with MetalFX in
mind,” said Bruce Schimmel, Eckart America director of sales – graphic arts. “The ink will give MetalFX-certified printers a greater freedom and the opportunity to achieve outstanding results at less cost. The silver pigment works with the overprinted CMYK and an aqueous varnish to bring the metallic to life with extra vibrancy. This makes it perfect for packaging and other offset printing applications.”
