The Printing & Imaging Association of MidAmerica recently announced the creation of the Gary R. Reniker EHS Professional of the Year Award, which will be given annually to an individual in the printing industry who demonstrates outstanding leadership and excellence in promoting environmental health and safety. It was named after Gary R. Reniker, national safety director with INX International Ink Co.
The initial award will be given to Mr. Reniker on Sept. 9 at the INX International booth at Print ’05.
Mr. Reniker’s impact on improving printing safety and environmental management has been at the local, regional and national levels. He has served as a speaker, technical writer, regulatory agency advisor, on-site consultant and committee member of several national EHS steering committees. Mr. Reniker led PIA MidAmerica’s PrintGuard program, which earned a $200,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Labor/OSHA and became the first printing-specific safety train-the-trainer program in the nation.
