Akzo Nobel Inks has introduced UvoNova, a high-performance UV curable letterpress ink created using the latest resin technology that offers excellent adhesion, curing and print quality on a variety of popular narrow web substrates including coated and uncoated papers, PE, PP and similar films as well as self-adhesive label stocks, at running speeds of 100 meters per minute.
“We are keenly aware of the cost pressures under which narrow web printers operate today, and our aim with UvoNova was to help them reduce the complexity of their day-to-day production by simplifying and streamlining their ink inventory across the whole range of print substrates, including the 21st century synthetics that are today so much in demand for packaging applications,” said Niklas Olsson, global brand manager, narrow web for ANI. “We calculate that UvoNova can deliver savings up to 10 percent – depending on substrate and run strength – for many narrow web UV letterpress jobs. UvoNova also offers genuinely improved all-round performance over other UV letterpress inks on the market, so the printer benefits all around.”
UvoNova can be foil blocked, overprinted by thermal transfer and used in direct thermal applications, for self-adhesive, in-mold and wraparound labels. It has been extensively tested and meets the most stringent end-user demands in terms of chemical, scratch, water and ethanol resistance.
