John D’Amico, the founder of Ultra Additives, passed away Oct. 22, 2001.
Mr. D’Amico founded Ultra Additives Inc. in 1952 as a paint manufacturing company. Throughout the years, he established Ultra Additives as “The Defoamer Company.” Under Mr. D’Amico’s leadership, Ultra Additives became the leading defoamer company to the metalworking, printing ink, paint and coatings and adhesive industries, and is now the largest privately held defoamer company in the world. He established the integrity, high standards of business ethics and philosophies that are maintained today at Ultra Additives, and those people who knew him say he was a true gentleman in every sense of the word.
Mr. D’Amico was president of the Metropolitan New York Paint and Coatings Association in 1986. He also served as mayor, police commissioner and finance commissioner for the Township of Washington, NJ from 1964-66.
