Significant growth in the demand for new UV/EB ink systems from North American label and folding carton converters has resulted in expanded operations at Flint Ink’s Toronto, Ontario facility. The 86,000 square-foot site will now operate 24/7 in order to meet expanding customer requirements. The top-selling UV/EB products at the Toronto facility are Flint Ink’s Arrowbeam, Matrix and Gemini ink systems. Growth markets identified include food, beverage, coffee, cosmetic, multimedia, sporting goods and tobacco.
“Packaging converters have made it clear they want premium performance from energy curable inks,” said Steve D’Angelo, director of marketing, Flint Ink packaging division. “Strong sales growth confirms that our new product introductions have been right on target. The marketplace demand for these packaging ink systems has been outstanding,” he said.
Flint Ink’s Arrowbeam system is a series of process inks and blending bases created specifically for EB applications. Matrix inks, a premium UV system, are designed to operate in wide performance parameters. Gemini inks, a hybrid offset system, utilize the chemistries of conventional oil-based and UV curable technologies. Each of these energy curable products utilizes Flint Ink’s new, proprietary chemistry that improves runnability.
