Sun Chemical has announced that Wes Lucas has joined the company as president as of August 1. The announcement was made by Henri Dyner, who retains the title and full responsibilities of chief executive officer.
“Wes Lucas brings an exceptionally strong background to the job of Sun Chemical’s president, notably in the areas of sales growth, operational productivity, building companies and start-ups,” Mr. Dyner said. “In addition, Wes brings a values-driven leadership style that has been honed working in multiple cultures across a broad range of industries and markets.”
Mr. Lucas, 38, began his career with the Chevron Corporation in California. He then became a consultant with McKinsey & Company. Based in Sweden, he helped manufacturing companies in Western Europe, Eastern Europe and North America focus on sales growth, increasing profitability, operational improvement and restructuring in an international environment.
Mr. Lucas returned to the U.S, as a vice president for AlliedSignal Corp. In this role, he was a member of the executive leadership team of AlliedSignal’s engineered materials sector, with responsibility for strategy, mergers and acquisitions, Asian business and other areas of growth.
He was then named senior vice president of Nova Chemicals Corporation and president of its styrene division. During his tenure at Nova Chemicals, he significantly improved the business by growing sales, increasing profitability and building the division into a market leader.
Most recently, Mr. Lucas was the founder, chairman and CEO of Open Webs Corporation, which he successfully merged with BTN to create the leading provider of peer-to-peer software for private networks and industry exchanges in July 2001.
Mr. Lucas holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School, as well as a bachelor of science degree in both finance and accounting from the University of California at Berkeley.
